After two years away, Syngenta Flowers held their Summer Trials again here in the UK.

The Summer Trials took place over three days at Pershore College, Worcestershire on Tuesday 23rd June to Thursday 25th June.

Pershore College, located in the Vale of Evesham in the heart of England; an area with a long tradition of commercial horticulture was an ideal location and was visited by commercial growers, retailers and media contacts alike from all over the UK and Ireland.

Syngenta Flowers had their full range of new and exciting bedding, basket and perennial products from seed and cuttings for 2010 on show at the trials.

Product Managers gave two presentation tours each day around the trials for those that wanted more in depth information about the crops on display.

The trials were also supported by Fargro, who nationally market a range of specialist products, including agrochemicals, biological control, energy, hardware and machinery; Rotomation who offer the latest labour saving horticultural equipment for commercial growers of ornamentals, vegetable plants and nursery stock, including transplanters, tray fillers, potting machines, pot and tray denesters and seeders; Syngenta Bioline who produce high quality products containing natural beneficial insects and mites for use in Integrated Crop Management programmes to control pests and Warwickshire Colleges who have been delivering horticultural training since 1954 and who’s Pershore site has a 60 hectare estate devoted almost entirely to horticulture.

Amongst the new items on display and of particular interest to many visitors of the trials was the new Pelargonium Caliente® and Calliope® series.

These two series of hybrid geraniums are the result of many years of refining ivy-zonal crosses to bring together the best features of each to establish a new premium geranium class. Both offer vivid colours and branching.

Commenting on the trials, Jodie Champion, Marketing Communications Manager, Syngenta Flowers, said:

“We were delighted with the support we received after two years away, we had lots of visitors throughout the three days and their appeared a great deal of interest in the new items coming through for 2010. We also have to give thanks to Pershore College for their hard work and for helping us make the trials such a success. Oh and the weather was very kind to us too!”
